The energy transition is no longer only about producing more power. It is increasingly about moving power.

Across Europe and the GCC, investment in renewable generation continues to accelerate. Yet transmission capacity is becoming one of the most critical constraints. Without grid expansion, interconnections, substations and delivery capability, generation alone cannot unlock its full value.

The Transmission Gap

The International Energy Agency estimates that grid investment needs to more than double by 2030 to meet net-zero targets. The challenge is not the technology — wind turbines and solar panels are mature. The challenge is the infrastructure: the substations, cables, permits and delivery organisations required to connect generation to demand.

Infrastructure Delivery as Energy Policy

The future energy system will be built as much by infrastructure delivery professionals as by energy producers. The ability to deliver grid infrastructure — on time, within budget, across complex regulatory environments — is becoming as strategically important as the generation technology itself.
