Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work in different countries, environments and project contexts. One lesson stands out.

Large infrastructure projects rarely fail because of engineering. More often, they struggle because complexity grows faster than alignment — different stakeholders, different priorities, different expectations.

As projects become larger and more international, technical excellence remains essential. But delivery increasingly depends on communication, governance and the ability to create a shared direction.

The most successful projects are not necessarily those with the best technical solutions. They are often the ones where people remain aligned despite complexity. Infrastructure delivery is ultimately a leadership challenge.
